Battery passport
Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 makes the digital battery passport mandatory from 18 February 2027 for LMT batteries, industrial batteries above 2 kWh, and electric vehicle batteries.

Who is in scope?
- Light means of transport (LMT) batteries — e-bikes, e-scooters
- Industrial batteries with nominal capacity above 2 kWh
- Electric vehicle (EV) batteries

- Battery chemistry and nominal capacity
- Recycled content shares for cobalt, lead, lithium and nickel
- Carbon footprint declaration
- State of health (SoH) and expected lifetime
- Supply chain due diligence statement (Art. 48-53)
- End-of-life and recycling instructions
- Manufacturing date and facility
